Greenwich, Connecticut
Greenwich is located along the shores of Long Island Sound in Fairfield County, at the southern tip of Connecticut. It is a town graced with breathtaking natural beauty. To the south, secluded coves, sandy beaches and pretty harbors dot its shoreline. To the north, rolling hills, shady glens and winding brooks typify its famed "back country".
Called "The Gateway to New England", Greenwich is a community steeped in pride and Colonial traditions that date back to its founding in 1640. In the late nineteenth century, Greenwich became a fashionable summer resort for wealthy New Yorkers seeking a rural seaside community that was close to New York City. Today, Greenwich boasts some of the most magnificent executive residential neighborhoods in the country, eagerly sought after for their bucolic surroundings, tax advantages, superior schools and convenient 45-minute train commute to Manhattan.
Civic participation and a commitment to volunteerism of its residents are the underlying strengths of the community, and the backbone of the excellence in education, health care, recreation, cultural facilities and town government.
