Larchmont and Mamaroneck, New York

The Village of Larchmont, the Village of Mamaroneck and the Unincorporated area are part of the Town of Mamaroneck, which has a written history dating from 1661, when John Richbell purchased "three necks of land" from the Indians.

 

Larchmont and Mamaroneck are ideally situated along the shores of beautiful Long Island Sound, with lovely wooded hills gently rising inland yet it is only 28-30 minutes to Grand Central Station in the middle of New York City, with excellent commuting service provided by Metro-North. Nearby highways offer quick access to all airports, upper New York State, New England, New Jersey and Long Island.

Shopping is an absolute joy, with the many attractive and convenient local boutiques and specialty shops, supplemented by the large and fashionable department stores in nearby White Plains, Greenwich and Stamford, just minutes away. In addition to the natural beauty and conveniences of the area, residents usually mention the excellent school system as a major factor in their decision to move here.

New Rochelle, New York

A tightly knit community along the shores of Long Island Sound,New Rochelle is a treasured jewel within Westchester County. The community is one of the oldest in the Northeast and is aptly described as the "Queen City of the Sound".

New Rochelle has a character of homogeneity, there are long-established and distinct neighborhoods, some with the coziness and charm found in a small town, others with a cosmopolitan atmosphere. The architecture throughout the city is distinctive, and many homes are designated as historic landmarks.

The approximately 67,300 residents of New Rochelle are proud of the history of their city. In fact, many people are quick to point out that they are third or fourth generation residents.

New Rochelle is in the midst of a long-term revitalization program geared toward upgrading the cityıs downtown areas. Some of this renewal has been accomplished; for example, there is a new library with an auditorium, meeting rooms, exhibit area, and a plaza with a fountain, walkways and New Roc City complex.

The city of New Rochelle is approximately 17 miles from New York City in southern Westchester County. Its proximity to Manhattan was touted in George M. Cohan's song, "45 Minutes From Broadway"; and later in the 1950's, it gained additional fame as Rob and Laura Petrie's hometown in The Dick Van Dyke Show.
