Villages of Rye Brook and Port Chester, New York

The Town of Rye was settled in 1660, when a small group of settlers from Greenwich purchased a tract of land along Long Island Sound from the Mohican Indians. Over time, the area grew from a secluded sea port to a thriving industrial center. Today, the Town of Rye is a sprawling suburban township which includes the Villages of Rye Brook and Port Chester, and the section known as Rye Neck.

In 1981, the Village of Rye Brook became an incorporated village in the Town of Rye and one of Westchester County's newest municipalities. Once called Rye Town, this area evolved from large farms and estates to attractive residential neighborhoods that still retain their country flavor. The vitality and modern lifestyle of the area appeals to young families who want the best in education, recreation, housing and convenience.

The Village of Port Chester, Rye Brook's neighbor, was founded in 1868. Its offers an eclectic mix of both older and newer neighborhoods, with all residents sharing the enthusiasm of revitalizing this historic community.

Rye, New York

When a small group of settlers from Greenwich, Connecticut established a tiny farming community in 1660, they named it after their ancestral home in Rye England. During the Colonial era, Rye became a stopping place for the New York-to-Boston stage. The original milestones, fixed by Benjamin Franklin, still mark the 24th, 25th and 26th miles from New York City.

Rye gained favor as a fashionable summer resort at the turn of the century and after World War I began to attract residents who commuted to Manhattan. Today, Rye is a charming residential community situated along the shores of Long Island Sound.

Although it is technically a city Westchester's smallest, in fact  Rye maintains a village-like atmosphere, with quaint downtown shops, a picturesque protected harbor, superb fishing and boating, a beautiful coastline, winding brooks and gently rolling topography.

Intelligent planning has allowed the city of Rye to grow, while still preserving its small-town  charm. Rye has wisely broadened its tax base to benefit homeowners by attracting corporations to the area. These beautifully designed office buildings, located on the outskirts of town, are an asset to the community.

Harrison, New York

The Town of Harrison traces its roots back to 1696 when John Harrison, a Quaker from Long Island, bought 22 square miles from the Mohican Indians and named it "Harrisonšs Purchase". Like many other towns in southern Westchester, Harrison's growth from its agrarian beginnings to a thriving residential community was bolstered by the arrival of the railroad, and by wealthy executives who built sprawling estates within easy commute of their New York City offices.

Today, Harrison is a town of lively contrasts and interesting diversity. Almost all income levels, major faiths, professions and ethnic origins are represented here. Home styles range from cottages to castles, giving Harrison extraordinarily broad appeal. Effective town planning has also attracted corporate neighbors such as Pepsico, Texaco and Mastercard, who contribute substantially to the tax base. A modern school system, close proximity to Manhattan and a country atmosphere all contribute to Harrisonšs enormous vitality and prestige.

The area known as Purchase, encompassing six square miles in the northern section of Harrison, is an exclusive enclave where baronial estates blend with manicured corporate parks along Harrisonšs "Platinum Mile". The expansive park-like campuses of the State University of New York and Manhattanville College, as well as three private country clubs, further enhance the open, country feeling of this exceptional community.
